Program Description

Option #1: U11 Skills Centre (Program Fee $290)

U11 players practice twice a week on weekday evenings. Following the Skills Centre Model, U11 teams will participate in the Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL) weekend soccer Festivals around the HRM. Festivals are fun, tournament style events where U11 teams play three 25 minute games against other Clubs.

Option #2: U12 (Program Fee $290)

U12 players practice twice a week on weekday evenings. Teams will also have one game per week in the Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL), most often on week nights. Teams play 50 minute, 7 a side format on a mix of turf and grass fields.

Program Start / Finish

U11 and U12 players begin practicing indoors the first week of May with outdoor practices starting the first week of June. Games typically begin the end of May or first weekend of June. The season runs until August 21st.

Practice Schedule

The detailed practice schedule will not be finalized until a few weeks prior to the start of season. The schedule will depend on several factors; coach availability, number of teams and field allocation. The practice schedule will be posted on the Storm website and social media as soon as it is finalized.

Game Schedule

The U11 game schedule will be developed by Soccer Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL) once the number of teams have been determined. Games will be held on the weekends. Generally, games will be scheduled around consistent time blocks based on gender and age group. Teams may also participate in tournaments throughout the summer season if there is enough interest.

The U12 game schedule will be developed by the Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL) once the number of teams have been determined. Games are typically held on weeknights but there may be some weekend games as well. Teams may also participate in tournaments throughout the summer season if there is enough interest.

A Note on Player & Team Placement (U11-U12)

Depending on registration numbers, U11 and U12 players may be requested to participate in an early Placement Practice Session before the season starts. Our goal is to ensure that players have the best experience possible so that they keep playing, developing and are most importantly having fun. As there is some overlap within the U11 and U12 age divisions, we have some flexibility in how teams are determined. We need to review:  “What will be the best environment for our kids to play"and "Will it be in U11 Skills Centre or U12?”. To help this decision, we may hold Placement Practice sessions so that we can make recommendations to our members.

Placement Practice Sessions are typically only one hour in duration and take place over one or two nights. These practices are an opportunity for our Coaches to watch players and ensure that they are placed on the appropriate team and that the teams themselves are placed in the right group.  There is a $10 placement fee payable by cash or cheque at the first placement session for each player. This fee is used to help cover the cost of the turf for our placement practice sessions.

Please watch the website and social media for placement dates / times.
