With summer season starting up, it is a good idea to get into the habit of checking field conditions. Wondering if practice is still on due to rainy weather...? Are the games on turf ever cancelled...? What if it starts to thunder...? Get all your questions answered here.....
If the weather looks questionable (or it's not raining at the moment but it's been raining for days), before heading out to practice you should check on field conditions. You can use the HRM Field Conditions tab found on the Storm website to find out if the fields are open. (Storm does not usually post field cancellations on our website).
HRM decides whether the fields are open usually by 3pm each day. If it's raining or the fields are too wet, HRM will announce a field closure. This means our Storm practices at Eric Graves Field and any games played on HRM fields will be cancelled that day.
For those teams that play games on turf, they generally will play rain or shine, as the turf fields are designed for all weather.
If the fields are pronounced open by HRM and then its starts to rain, practice at Eric Graves will still be held. It is up to the individual coach to decide if conditions become too wet to continue and they will make the call at the field.
