Oh, how they've grown!

2016-08-12

Since its humble beginnings in 2010, Storm Soccer has grown from a fledgling group to a small but mighty Club! What else has grown...? Our players, some of whom have been with us since the start! Check out these transformations....

You have at least one, perhaps more, folding chairs permanently in your car. You always carry a blanket in your trunk for when the field gets cold. There is probably at least one water bottle rolling around under your seat, driving you crazy every time you take a corner. Your nostrils have been subjected to the pungent aroma of sweaty shin pads and wet cleats more times than you care to remember. You've eaten a whole days worth of meals behind the wheel of your car during a tournament weekend. If you can answer "yes" to any of these questions, you are most likely a soccer parent!

Why do we go to such lengths to enable our kids to play? As parents, we love to see our children have fun, develop their skills, be part of a team, build camaraderie and remain active. One thing is for certain though, no matter how much we want our children to stay little, they defy us every day by growing, maturing and learning to navigate the world on their own.

It's been said by many a Storm parent that our Club is like a family. We have watched our own player grow and mature, but we also delight in seeing our child's teammates advance through the age groups. The Storm archives have been searched and we have come up with a group of players who have been with us since the beginning. We invite you to take a peek below at how they have grown over the years, still as passionate for the game now as they were when they started! (Some have beards! Some drive themselves to practice now....yikes!) **Special mention to Storm parent Tracy MacNeil, who seems to be behind the lens of many of these amazing photographs, she has a knack of always being in the right place at the right time!

We know there are many more pictures out there of other Storm players! We encourage you to send them in to Susan at stormsoccerclubcomms@gmail.com, or post pics of your own player's transformation in our Storm Facebook group (Storm Soccer Club), Storm Twitter (@Storm_Soccer) and Storm Instagram (stormsoccerclub).
