Our Philosophy

To promote a fun and energetic style of soccer, enabling each child to reach their full potential in the sport. We will provide families affordable access to soccer camps and programs, working closely with organizations such as KidsportCanada.ca and SportNovaScotia.ca.

We aim to make soccer the primary sport of choice for all children who experience Storm Soccer Club programs and ultimately enjoy and play soccer for life.

Coaching Principles: Working closely with Soccer Nova Scotia's 'Long Term Player Development' plan, Storm Soccer Club's coaching philosophy will be ran along 4 guiding principles;

Fitness Programs: The fitness aspect of young developing soccer players is a fundamental element in our philosophy. Warm-up runs, shuttle drills, sprints, relays, upper body strength and other cardio routines make fitness fun and builds a base line fitness level for soccer. Stretching up before practices, and down afterwards is also incorporated.

Agility Drills: We will mix in agility training to give increased quickness and reaction time for fast game play situations.

Technical Training: Ball work is key to developing skilled young soccer players; with lots of touches on the ball central to this discipline. Technical practice will include passing (short and long), heading, dribbling, shooting, crossing, trapping (chest, head, thigh, foot). Goalkeeper training will also be considered.

Tactical Knowledge: Small sided practice games (4-v-4 and 5-v-5) would be used to coach the basic tactical awareness for larger team play. Positional coaching and spacial awareness are critical elements for tactical drills as young players develop at the U-10 and U-12 levels.
